As part of our \u2018Day of Crafts\u2019 series, this weekend you\u2019ll have another chance to learn an old craft that was thought to have been forgotten. Our guest will be Veronika Ill\u00e9s, who will introduce us to the secrets of lace-making.<\/p>\n
Veronika shows us\u00a0how lace is made<\/strong>, or\u00a0we can give it a go<\/strong>\u00a0our dexterity.<\/p>\n Lace is a finely patterned fabric, characterised by the fact that the pattern is not applied to the finished fabric afterwards, but is created as the fabric is being made. The history of lace-making goes back a long way, and there are two basic types: sewn lace and bobbin lace. Lace-making has been included in the Hungarian Heritage Register and thus bears the title of \u2018outstanding national treasure\u2019.<\/p>\n At Katica Farm, alongside modern, environmentally conscious solutions, we consider it essential to preserve and practise traditions, and we hope you\u2019ll be keen to join our lace-making programme.\u00a0If you\u2019d like to play as well as do some crafts, there are plenty of indoor activities and entertainment to choose from.
