Perhaps it’s partly because of my name – I was named after a flower that blooms in spring – and I’m absolutely convinced that nature is at its most beautiful in spring. What about you?

- For me, it’s autumn.

- Hang on a minute! I bet it’s because both your name day and your birthday are in October!

- That’s right. So maybe it’s just hard-wired into us somehow – they smile at each other. But autumn is still more beautiful, more atmospheric; it’s the best season. It beckons us to a thousand adventures. Oh my, look what I’ve found! Just imagine, there’s going to be a medieval weekend at the Katica farm.

- Really? Well, then there’s no question about where we’re going this weekend. That was when I tried archery for the first time last year – do you remember how much fun throwing battle stars and kelevéz was?

- Yes, but the best bit was shooting with the catapult! What’s more, you can now try out the stocks and the pillory, and you can even learn to fence around the castle to really get the full medieval experience.

- Do you know what else we’re missing out on?

- We might not fall behind after all; if we can come up with something, we can convince our mums together.

Even a simple autumn weekday creates a pleasant atmosphere and offers excellent relaxation for every member of the family. Autumn is also ideal for active pursuits. Straight after lunch, the walnut trees tempt you to get out and about. Gathering the nuts can be great fun; you could even turn it into a competition to see whose basket is the fullest, whilst the children learn about nature and each other through play alongside their parents. But it’s the weekends that really ensure visitors to Katica Farm have a truly memorable experience. It’ll be hard to decide which weekend in October the family should time their trip for.

Special days

Every year, October begins with World Animal Day, marking the start of a month of special occasions. At Katica Farm, guests can commemorate this special day in a fitting manner – certainly on behalf of, and in the company of, the farm’s animals. The programme kicks off with cow milking, but there’s also the chance to make animal masks and look after the animals.

On the second weekend of October, the gastronomic programme has something in store for true connoisseurs, as the Chestnut Days revolve entirely around this small, shiny, beautifully coloured fruit. Both the skilful and the „less skilful” can learn how to make chestnut gnomes, Kipp Kopp figures and chestnut medallions, whilst autumn door decorations are also on offer alongside the chestnuts.

This coming weekend is all about crafts. With the help of applied artist Klára Rostás, hard-working hands will be creating objects from straw and rushes, and participants may even try their hand at jewellery-making. Autumnal postcards, leaf art, autumn harvest scenes – all these can be created in the craft workshop, where creativity can take flight once more.

The last weekend of the month is dedicated to candles at Katica Farm: candle decorating, candle dipping, candle making and candle twisting promise some carefree moments. Children and parents alike can marvel at the tricks of this long-forgotten craft, the unique scent of beeswax, and the way the material takes shape.

The two siblings finally return home content, accompanied by their parents, realising that this day, too, had passed so quickly they hadn’t even noticed, yet so much had happened that they will cherish those memories in their hearts for a long time to come. They were tired from the fresh country air, but they drifted off to sleep with the thought that they wouldn’t have to wait too long for their next visit, which would be just as full of experiences and adventures.

Finally, Jácint turned to Hedvig:

- Autumn really is lovely after all; I’ve grown to love it in just one day, but I hope we’ll come back again in the spring!

A következő beszélgetés zajlik: - Neked mi a kedvenc évszakod?- kérdi Hedvig Jácinttól. - Lehet, hogy furcsának találod fiú létemre, […]

[112

post-3990","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-hasznos-cikkek
["GET
