To mark this occasion on the third weekend of January We’ve got eco-friendly craft activities lined up for little ones who’ve had their fill of the slides and climbing walls – and their parents too! They can make snowflakes from a plastic bottle, a game of skill, or for cold winter evenings a family board game made from bottle caps!

Did you know? Since the summer of 2017, the Experience Centre has been meeting all its energy needs exclusively from renewable sources! This means that our heating, cooling, hot water and electricity needs are met entirely from renewable sources! Find out more Our environmental awareness!

Let’s spend the winter days together, having fun!

Did you know that at Katica Farm we only carry out development projects that do not consume energy, or, if they do, we are able to generate the necessary amount ourselves?

For us, the fact that the let us live in harmony with our environment, the most important principle of development. In other words, even if a development project is financially viable, we will not go ahead with it if its environmental impact is long-lasting (for example, this is why we do not have petrol-powered go-karts; instead, we have electric go-karts).

Our aim is for visitors to leave a smaller ecological footprint than they would have done had they gone elsewhere or stayed at home.

Our environmental awareness here Find out more! You can read the full application pack by clicking here!

Just a few days to go. The magic of Christmas awaits everyone amidst the festively decorated trees. If nothing else, most people can organise a lovely family get-together, and you can set the perfect mood for it here with us. Make a string of stars and admire your festive window display. And if you’ve got the hang of snow-themed crafts over the past few weeks, now’s your chance to bring some magic into your home with your very own snow globe. Even at the last minute, you still have the chance to make a Christmas card or even a Christmas tree decoration that you’ll need in a few days’ time.

Right in the midst of Advent preparations, everyone surely has their own favourite experience. One such example is the scent of gingerbread, which most of us love. We might not even take a bite because it’s so beautifully decorated that we can’t bear to eat it, but the scent has an effect on everyone.
This weekend, we’ll be finding out about the the best gingerbread secrets. What’s more, during our workshop, not only will you discover the harmony of flavours, but you’ll also have the chance to take part in making gingerbread figures and hangings. Once you’ve learnt the secrets of the dough and baking, you’ll come to regard the decoration as a real treat.

Work on the chair began on 13 December; according to some traditions, it was a three-legged piece of furniture, whilst others describe it as having four legs; seven types of wood were used for the former and nine for the latter, and the chair was made up of that exact number of pieces. It had to be completed within thirteen days so that the witches could be found standing on it in the church during the Christmas Mass. Nowadays, nobody wants to smuggle a Luca chair, but the story still captures people’s imagination. Among the St Luke’s Day customs, at Katica Farm today you can learn about sowing wheat and take part in making a Luca clay figurine, if you pop round to see us at the weekend. Also, You can have a look around for the hidden chocolates we’ve hidden here.

Of course, our usual attractions – which are open even in winter – are also waiting for you, so any day from Tuesday to Sunday could be a good time to pay us a visit.

‘We’re going to be late because of you again!’ Rudolf stamped his foot impatiently.
‘We’ve never been late before,’ said Father Christmas teasingly, a mischievous grin playing at the corner of his mouth.
‘Of course not! Because we gallop and run!’ muttered the horse under his breath.
-See! Anyway, I’ve still got loads to do: I’ve got to comb my beard, pack my bag, and my glasses aren’t even clean!
‘You know we’ve got to get there! On time! By 5 December!’ Rudi rolled his eyes
‘There? Where?’ Santa raised his head, looking a little uneasy, as he wasn’t entirely sure of the timetable.
-To Patca! To Katica Farm! At 3 o’clock!!!!!
-Oh! Well, we might actually have to get a move on then – it’s a bit of a way!
‘I told you so! I told you!’ grumbled Rudolf, though at the same time he noted with satisfaction that they had started packing the bags.
‘Have you sent the letters?’ asked the old man.
‘What letters?’ – a look of horror spread across Rudolf’s face. He wasn’t in the habit of making mistakes, and now that the possibility had arisen, he didn’t feel too good about it.
‘The ones where I asked the children to draw themselves with me!’ he replied nonchalantly, whilst carefully combing his beard.
“Oh! Of course! The little sleigh-puller breathed a sigh of relief. After all, I finished that ages ago!” – but his mind was already elsewhere. He ran through his list of completed tasks: packing his rucksack: tick, combing his beard: tick, Katica Tanya is far away, 5 December is nearly here, the letters about the drawings are sorted. Only his glasses are still missing… he realised nervously.
‘Can we finally set off?’ asked Father Christmas, having forgotten the last thing he needed to do before setting off.
‘I’ve still got a bit of work to do,’ said Rudi, and, amidst a great clatter of hooves, he rode off, only to reappear a short while later wearing Santa’s spotless spectacles.
‘I only cleaned it for you so that you could see the drawings of you clearly on 5 December at Katica Farm,’ he said sarcastically, and stormed off to the front of the sledge.
‘Oh dear, these reindeer are such a bother!’ sighed Father Christmas, and with a smile he closed the door behind him. He knew a lovely afternoon awaited him at Katica Farm, and not even Rudi could spoil it.

If you’d like to join our Santa Claus party, where there’ll be a group craft session and lots of surprises, then come along on 5 December and bring a drawing you’ve done yourself!

Father Christmas is on his way! We’re just waiting for you!!

A 6–7 November at the weekend Veronika Illés We will have a guest who will lace-making introduces us to its mysteries.

Lace is a finely patterned fabric, characterised by the fact that the pattern is not applied to the finished fabric afterwards, but is created as the fabric is being made. Lace-making has been included in the Hungarian Heritage Register and thus bears the title of ‘outstanding national treasure’. Come and give this craft a go with us!

Do come and visit us, because as well as our animals, we hold themed events every weekend with programmes and permanent with games We look forward to welcoming you to our site, which covers more than 130 hectares.

Astronomical autumn began on 22 September, this date also marks the autumnal equinox. At this time, the length of day and night is the same in both hemispheres of the Earth. The Sun is directly overhead at the Equator, so on these days, day and night last for the same amount of time everywhere.
In the second half of the year, the days are visibly shortening, so darkness comes much earlier. With the growing emphasis on saving money and the need to add a little romance to the more sombre mood of autumn, it's time for some candlelight 🙂
Every home has a few candles – if not from anywhere else, then from the very last birthday cake… but if you don’t have any, you can learn how to make them with us this weekend The mystery of candle-making, at home. We’ll also be sharing plenty of ideas on how you can make this simple tool look more attractive and interesting. We look forward to welcoming you to our candle-decorating, candle-dipping, candle-making and candle-twisting sessions.
We look forward to seeing you this autumn too our electric go-kart track! Come and experience the thrill of eco-friendly racing!
