We only develop attractions that does not consume energy, or, if we do, we produce it ourselves from renewable sources. An important aspect of environmental awareness is reusing waste. In our workshops, we show how to turn something worthless into a useful object or a toy. That’s how a PET bottle becomes a aeroplane, a bottle cap a spinning top, a paper roll a tree, and an egg carton a caterpillar. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

If you come and visit us, there’s more to look forward to than just these interesting craft activities. With the arrival of spring, our Matyi and Hordóutánfutó rides are back in the car park. All our guests can take a ride on the ride of their choice. We look forward to welcoming you this weekend too!

This weekend, we are celebrating the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Katica Farm; this is, on the one hand, the feast of the Purification of the Virgin Mary, and on the other, the feast of the Presentation of Jesus, as it was on this day that he was dedicated to God. A tradition associated with this is the blessing of candles.

According to popular belief, if the weather is fine on this day, spring will be late in coming. People used to say: „On Candlemas Day, ”Better a wolf howling through the window than the sun coming out!”’

Come along to Katica Farm again this weekend, and let’s twist some candles, make a beeswax lantern together, or even try some candle magic!

Even in cold weather, you’ll find for the whole family the right programme. You can choose from our wide range of indoor games, even in gloomy weather. Come and climb, jump and slide with us, even in winter!

If you’d like a snowman that’ll last, you can make one here using a plastic spoon, or you could even conjure up a reindeer from a cork. If you fancy making angels, you can make them from paper lace here; or even an owl from a pine cone. Of course, we’ve also thought of those who still want to hold on to the Christmas spirit at this time of year – a great way to do so is by making a scented diffuser from a mandarin or a winter-themed stamp from decorative rubber, so that the memories stay with you.

As New Year’s Eve draws nearer, our mindset changes too. But who could possibly see out the year without creating a beautiful picture out of confetti, or even a string of stars? And when the last day of the year finally arrives, we find ourselves longing for nothing more than a wizard’s hat and a magic wand – which you can also make here with us. On the first day of January, we’ll give superstition and good luck another go, so you can join us in making your very own chimney sweep out of chenille wire.

In the cold of late winter, our best offer is for you to visit Katica Farm, where you can spend the whole day in our heated indoor play areas. And if you get peckish whilst playing, you can top up your energy levels in our restaurant. If you’ve wrapped up warm enough, we’d love to welcome you for a lovely stroll around the farm, where you can still visit our animals, who are waiting for you even at this time of year.

Make a string of stars and admire your festive window display. And if you’ve got the hang of snow-themed crafts over the past few weeks, now’s your chance to bring a touch of magic into your home with your very own snow globe. Even at the last minute, you still have the chance to make a Christmas card or even a Christmas tree decoration that you’ll need in a few days’ time.

Whether you’re using paper or pine cones, only your creativity sets the limits on what you can hang from the drooping fir branches. The few days leading up to Christmas can be difficult and tiring for many people, but if you pop in to see us, we’ll help you overcome the stress and create an atmosphere that will ensure you experience only the good things and the wonder of the season.

Right in the midst of Advent preparations, everyone is sure to have their own favourite tradition. One such example is the scent of gingerbread, which most of us love. We might not even take a bite because they’re so beautifully decorated that we can’t bear to eat them, but the scent has an effect on everyone.
This weekend, Klára Rostás is helping us to let’s discover the secret of the best gingerbread. What’s more, during our workshop, not only will you discover the harmony of flavours, but you’ll also have the chance to take part in making gingerbread figures and hangings. Once you’ve learnt the secrets of the dough and baking, you’ll come to regard the decoration as a real treat.

Is there anyone who hasn’t heard of the customs associated with St Luke’s Day? If nothing else, St Luke’s chair is surely familiar to everyone: Work on the chair began on 13 December; according to some traditions it had three legs, whilst others say it had four; seven types of wood were used for the former and nine for the latter, and the chair was made up of that many pieces. It had to be completed within thirteen days so that, during the Christmas Mass, the witches could be found standing on it in the church. Nowadays, nobody wants to smuggle in a Luca chair, but the story still captures people’s imagination.

Among the traditions associated with St Luke’s Day, the At Katica Farm, you can now learn about sowing wheat and take part in making a Luca clay figurine, if Are you coming to visit us at the weekend?. You can also hunt for hidden Christmas sweets here, and, given the huge interest, on Saturday You can meet Father Christmas again, who got in touch with us of his own accord. We’ve received an interesting letter from Lapland, which we’d now like to share with you:

„Dear Tanya Katica”
My visit last week was truly moving. Not only the children, but also the parents and all of you who work there were so kind to me. Given that I’ve already completed a significant part of my work for this year, I’ve decided to visit you again this weekend, on 10 December, so that anyone who happened to miss out on meeting me can make up for it. I always receive so much love and kindness when I travel the world on my reindeer sleigh, but what I felt with you really touched me. Anyone who’d like to meet me is welcome to join me on Saturday afternoon at Katicatanya.
Kind regards,
”Father Christmas"

I don’t think there’s any need to add anything to that. Just like Father Christmas, we’re waiting for you with lots of love. Knowing Father Christmas as we do, the children won’t be leaving empty-handed, and you might even have a photo taken together, which will be a lovely keepsake for the future.

Of course, our usual attractions – which are open even in winter – are also waiting for you, so any day from Tuesday to Sunday could be a great time to pay us a visit.

Our weekend dining offer: Potato dumpling soup – Vegetable risotto – Snickers bar
