There is no shortage of special days in autumn either. St Martin’s Day is associated with numerous traditions and folk customs. It is the last day before the Advent fast, when people are still allowed to enjoy a good feast and hold festivities. According to legend, in 371 Martin was elected Bishop of Tours, but he protested against his election. He hid in a goose pen to avoid being chosen as bishop. According to the legend, the geese gave him away with their cackling, so he was “forced” to accept the bishopric.
Whether the story is true or not, the names of Bishop Martin and geese have long been linked. This weekend, lantern-making and a parade in the tunnel, a St Martin’s Day good luck charm, goose-spotting and goose-making await you at Katica Farm.
Although we have already adapted some of our attractions for winter, we still offer a hundred different activities for those who visit us.
