Who hasn’t seen cowboys cracking their whips in educational films? In theory, and whilst sitting in your living room, it might seem very simple to use, as it is merely a tool consisting of a wooden handle and a strap attached to it, which was used to herd animals. However, not everything is as simple as it appears on screen.

This weekend, you can put your skills to the test at the with a whip you made yourself, which, when used correctly, produces a characteristic cracking sound. This is because the tip of the whip accelerates to a speed greater than the speed of sound, thereby creating a sonic boom. This was the the first man-made object to break the sound barrier. When herding, they used her voice; the aim was not to hit the animals.

In August, the medieval castle at Katica Tanya and its stage will host two external events:

• On 10 August at 2 pm, the The Vattacukor Band is giving a concert for visitors to Katica Tanya The performance is free of charge
• On 14 August, the Archery Tag: a tactical team game can find out about the adrenaline junkies, visitors to Katica Tanya only need to pay the participation fee for the activity, which is 4,000 Ft per person for 2 hours and 5,000 Ft per person for 3 hours.
