Easter is one of the most important Christian festivals. According to the Bible, Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday, the third day after his crucifixion on Friday. Through his death, he atoned for the sins of all mankind; through his resurrection, he triumphed over death.
Apart from its religious significance, it is a festival marking the anticipation of spring, the arrival of spring and fertility. At this time of year, people prayed for a bountiful harvest and the proliferation of livestock. This is why the rabbit is associated with the egg: the rabbit is a prolific animal, whilst the egg embodies the promise of life. If it’s Easter, then it’s Katica Tanya!
